What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is an intense and awesome core strength and conditioning program based on constantly varied, high intensity functional movement. It isn’t a specialised fitness program but a deliberate attempt to optimize physical competence in each of ten recognized fitness domains. They are Cardiovascular and Respiratory Endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance, and Accuracy. It delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive.

We have been involved in helping people with their fitness goals for many years and, with that experience, we recognise that each individual is at a very different place on their fitness journey. For some, exercise may have been in their past and today is the day that they have made the decision to improve their quality of life by getting fit. For others, it is about being challenged and pushed far beyond what they ever thought they were capable of.

We offer 3 programmes – all CrossFit – that are structured to meet the needs of individual members. We are not a “one programme suits everyone” type of gym. It is you, the individual, that is important.

triangleRedemption Bootcamp – perfect if you are starting on your fitness journey. During the 5 weeks (10 sessions) you will be improving your metabolic conditioning and addressing nutritional issues. Check out the programme details on the Redemption Bootcamp page.

Military Fit – a step up from Redemption Bootcamp. Increasing your strength, speed and power based on bodyweight exercises these classes add Gymnastics (ring work, hand stand push ups etc) into the 45 minute sessions.

Alpha – these are 1 hour long specialized group training sessions for individuals who want to include weightlifting into the existing programme of gymnastics and metabolic conditioning and who are driven to take their fitness to an elite level. The wider CrossFit community holds a number of national (and international competitions) and members in our  Alpha class are encouraged to compete.

As the training at Alpha level is specialized, before moving into these classes, an assessment is carried out for each individual to ensure you have the required level of technique to be able to perform the workouts safely.

We hold monthly workshops in Olympic Lifting and bimonthly workshops in Gymnastic skills and Kettlebell which are mandatory before progressing into an Alpha class.

Within each of the 3 programmes we cater for individual members' ability, level of fitness and experience by scaling the load, requirements and intensity.

We also run a Saturday morning Barbell class for those members who have completed the Olympic Lifting workshop - this is a dedicated lifting session and a great opportunity to work on technique and progressing with heavier weights.

Our athletes are trained to perform at multiple, diverse, and randomized physical challenges. This fitness is demanded of military and police personnel, firefighters, and many sports requiring total or complete physical prowess. CrossFit has proven effective in these arenas.

CrossFit Power Station offers morning and evening classes at each of the 3 levels. We also have separate Next Generation classes for youths aged 8 – 16 years. Whilst in the past we have offered Ladies Only classes (held mid morning), the current classes are all mixed. If you are particularly interested in working out in a women only session please contact us, as given enough members we will add a class into our timetable.

Check out the Timetable for details on class times.

Make no mistake, the effort required is huge – but so are the results!!

CrossFit GamesStarting 6 March, the Open is held over 5 weeks, that is 1 WOD per week for 5 weeks and everyone in the world completes it! If you register as a competitor, you'll be part of over 100,000 other athletes who are testing themselves. First timers and experienced CrossFitters are all welcome. Athletes compete in Open, Masters or team Divisions.

After the Opens, athletes move onto the semi-final round - the Regionals. NZ is part of the Australia Region with Regionals being held  24-26 May.
